Degree Show - Emily Brown

Hi guys,

 

I know we've neglected this blog lately but both Emily and myself have been super busy. We had our last ever deadline at Cleveland College of Art & Design, I visited New York with the college for Surtex Trade Show, then had to prepare for our degree show at CCAD and also Emily was picked for New Designers which was amazing news to the end of the academic year. So the next few posts will be about all the things I've mentioned! Firstly I'd like to show you some photos from our degree show at CCAD! It was a total success after a stressful week of planning and painting and psyching up for it (especially after the delight of New York.)

The Third Generation Show

About a month ago Falcus and Brown were involved in a major event in the North East of England.
Couture designer, Christopher Niari had his first independent fashion show called "The Third Gender S/S 2013." It was an elite event and his collection was gorgeous! Falcus and Brown were selected to have our own items in the VIP goody bags for this event! I created earrings and Emily created some limited edition illustrations. There was an eclectic mix of creatives including make up artists, hair stylists, photographers and designers. I had a stall at the event with my jewellery... unfortunately Emily could not attend but we're hoping to be double trouble for the next event! Also 2 designers who run Tough Luxe had some amazing notepads in the goody bags!

Business Cards

Last week both me and Kayleigh have been busy producing business cards for an exciting project we were both involved with. I think both business cards work well together and successfully represent what we are all about. Kayleigh's work is minimal and bold with sharp lines and block shapes. My work on the other hand is bright and consists mainly of screen printing which is which is why i chose to produce hand printed cards. I love the simplicity and execution of both these designs and we are currently in the process of producing a collaborative business card which will combine both our styles.

Welcome

Hello and welcome to the Falcus & Brown blog. This is a collective collaboration made up of myself, Kayleigh Falcus and Emily Brown. We are both currently studying at Cleveland College of Art and Design on the BA Textiles and Surface design course. Emily specialises in interior fabrics and has a very organic, expressive and abstract style. I specialise in jewellery and fashion accessories and my style is quite the opposite to Emily's work. I am very graphic, sleek and minimalistic. My edgy style contrasted with Emily's colourful, sketchy fabric layouts has became an unusually complimenting collaboration.

 

We will be posting our own work, inspiration and anything that interests us on this blog. Stay tuned for more posts, updates etc.
